Celebrate our nation’s birthday with

Unity of Kona needs YOU!

As you know it takes a village to run our spiritual center and we appreciate everyone. UoK depends on the loving hands and hearts of each of us and we are sincerely asking for your support. Please consider giving just 1 to 4 hours a month of your time.

Right  now, in  addition to financial  support, we are in deep need of: Sunday Greeters, Platform Assistants, and Audio/Visual Assistants.

New sign-up sheets are on the side table at the back of the sanctuary, or send an email to unityofkona@gmail.com and put ‘Volunteer’ in the subject line. If you would also like to read the Sunday Daily Word, please add your name on that sign up sheet.  The Refreshment sign-up sheet is upstairs. Your support is absolutely essential, and we thank you in advance from the bottom of our hearts. Mahalo!

Asking for Help with Our Fellowship Potluck Brunches!
 Let’s all take a turn!
After the service every Sunday, at 11:00am, we have a potluck brunch upstairs in the fellowship area. It’s always a great time to meet new-comers, visit with friends, check out a book from the library, and enjoy a delicious brunch!
There are several ways everyone can help with our fellowship brunches! You can sign up to bring a favorite dish to share – the signup sheet is located above the left end of the food table in the fellowship area upstairs. For those who don’t cook, but want to contribute, we can always use packaged snacks, fresh fruit and veggies, cheeses, cookies and crackers. Also, currently we need coffee creamer! We love our weekly fellowship time and our ono brunch makes it even more special! Mahalo in advance for helping provide the items that are needed!

Chapter 9:
The Sacred Space Between Us

When we pray with others, we step into sacred connection — where hearts align and Spirit moves.

Meditative Sound Bath Service

Sunday, July 6th, at 12:00 noon
with Kayla Harvey & Patrick Thompson

This is a meditative service with sound bath and energy healing provided. All are welcome! Love Offerings are accepted and appreciated.
Sound bath uses vibration from instruments like crystal singing bowls to relax the body and mind. The potential benefits of a sound bath are very similar to many meditative and relaxation practices. They include decreased stress, lower blood pressure, increased relaxation, improved sleep, decreased anxiety, and many more health benefits.
Kayla Harvey, MA, LMHC, and Patrick Thompson will be playing seven crystal singing bowls, along with other instruments for your relaxation and pleasure. Feel free to sit, lie down, close your eyes, or meditate while listening.  Some pillows and yoga mats are available to borrow, or you can bring your own.

Mahalo for Remembering to Tithe!
As we all navigate the changing times, Unity of Kona continues to be grateful for your support through your financial donations and tithes. If you’re giving online, use one of the links below with your cell phone to make your donation. Each link has advantages and disadvantages.
The QR code and link on the right were created to donate via PayPal’s Giving Fund. There is no processing fee with this charity donation option. But PayPal does NOT notify UoK of Giving Fund individual donations.
The other link is not part of PayPal’s Giving Fund, and PayPal donors are charged a fee for contributing. The advantage of this option is that PayPal notifies UoK monthly with the name of each donor and each amount. Please choose the option that best meets your needs.
Both the QR code at right and this link take you to PayPal’s Giving Fund option:
(NO donation fee, and NO notification to UoK)     https://bit.ly/unitykonapaypal
This link takes you to the Donation page of the UoK website, where you can donate using either a credit/debit card or PayPal. https://www.paypal.com/donate?hosted_button_id=D9898H4CZSYJ2
(PayPal DOES charge a fee, and DOES notify UoK with your name and donation amount)

July 2025
Theme:  Living the Mystery: Exploring Divine Reality

Affirmation:  I live in divine alignment, guided by Spirit
through purpose, silence, meditation, and prayer.

This month, we journey into the heart of Unity metaphysics to explore the nature of Being, the duality of spirit and matter, and the powerful paradoxes that define divine truth.
Each Sunday invites you to deepen your awareness of the invisible forces shaping your visible world. Through prayer, reflection, and spiritual understanding, we learn to live in harmony with both the mystery and majesty of the Divine.

(Huna, in the context of Hawaiian spirituality and shamanism, refers to a system of ancient wisdom and practices focused on healing, empowerment, and personal growth. It is a window into an ancient wisdom – one that flows beneath all shamanic and spiritual traditions. It’s a blend of spiritual beliefs, healing methods, and magical practices rooted in the Polynesian traditions of Hawai’i. The term “Huna” itself translates to “secret”.

Huna teaches that individuals have immense potential for growth and transformation through conscious intention and belief. Kahunas are practitioners of Huna, often healers or keepers of ancient knowledge.)

Additional On-going Affirmation:
Unity of Kona attracts a visionary minister to guide
us with love and light into an abundant future!

Congratulations!
Cindy Avenger

You’re July’s Unity of Kona
Team Member of the Month

Mahalo, Cindy, for your loving service to our Spiritual Center. We are blessed to have you at Unity of Kona! We very much appreciate your “can do” attitude to do whatever is needed to get the job done.
Cindy is in charge of the volunteer sign-up sheets, and brings food for our fellowship lunches. She helps with Circulation Day events, and is a Greeter for Sunday services when she’s not filling in as platform assistant!
Cindy, your willingness to offer needed support and share your time, energy and talents is greatly appreciated. You are a bright and shining light and we are grateful for your spirit of Aloha and loving service!  We love you, Cindy!

Let’s Connect – One-on-One with Rev. Sophia

We encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity to connect with Rev. Sophia for prayer and support.

Dear Unity of Kona Ohana,
At the request of the Board of Trustees – and with great joy in my heart – I’ll be reaching out personally to connect with our UoK members. If you are a formal member, you can expect a friendly call from me in the coming weeks. It’s my delight to get to know you better, hear your thoughts, and share in our spiritual journey.
If you’re not yet a member or would like to schedule a one-on-one conversation, please sign up at a Sunday service or email unityofkona@gmail.com and put Minister Call” in the subject line. I look forward to our conversation!
Blessings, Rev. Sophia

Classes Start Friday, July 11th, 8:30am HST
Rev. Sophia will lead an 8-week METAPHYSICS 4 class beginning Friday, July 11, from 8:30am to 10:00am Hawaii time. You can join us whether or not you took any of the previous Metaphysics classes. This is an online course, so you can join from anywhere. We will study the metaphysical creative process, the metaphysical basis for wholeness and health, and the metaphysical basis for prosperity.
Sign up on the clipboard at the back of the sanctuary or email unityofkona@gmail.com with METAPHYSICS CLASS in the subject line. Suggested love offering is $45, but no one who wants to attend will be turned away.
The text for the course is Section 4 in Heart-Centered Metaphysics, by Paul Hasselbeck. We have two copies of the book at UoK, for $25 each. They are brand new, and were purchased as donations for resale. Get your copy today, and support Unity of Kona!

Up-Coming Speakers for July 2025

Sunday, July 13th

Chapter 10: The Nature
of God Revealed

God is not a person, but pure beingness – expressing in and through all. As we explore this truth, we deepen our direct experience of divine presence within and around us.

Sunday, July 20th

Rev. Sophia Falke

Chapter 11: Two Worlds,
One Truth: Living Spiritually in a Physical World

Are we spiritual beings having a human experience…or something more? This Sunday, we explore the Unity teaching of two realms: the Spiritual Universe, which is eternal and unchanging, and the Physical Universe, which reflects our thoughts and consciousness. We’ll unpack how recognizing this duality can help us live with more purpose, clarity, and peace.

Sunday, July 27th

Rev. Sophia Falke

Chapter 12:
The Divine Paradoxes:
Where Truth Meets Mystery

How can God be both immanent (indwelling) and transcendent (infinite)? How can you be fully human and fully divine? This week, we embrace the Divine Paradoxes – those seemingly contradictory truths that point us toward deeper spiritual understanding. Rather than needing to resolve the mystery, you’re invited to live in harmony with it.

Some of Our Ohana Are in Need
Unity of Kona has members who need our help! The box labeled ‘Hawai’i Island Food Basket’, located at the top of the stairs, is temporarily being used to collect items for them.
Please bring foods that do not require much refrigeration, or much cooking, such as canned and packaged dry foods. More information will be forthcoming in the newsletter and Sunday announcements. Mahalo nui for your generosity!

Please Drop in Your Spare Change
into Our Building Fund Donation Box

The little miniature church bank for collecting donations for the Building Fund is now in a more prominent place by the entrance to UoK’s sanctuary. It had been on the shelves near the greeters’ chairs, but it couldn’t be seen very well there. And now it’s where everyone can see it as they enter and exit!

As we affirm our abundance and visualize Unity of Kona owning our own Spiritual Center facility, we ask that each week you drop your spare change into the bank! Change adds up fast, and every little bit helps! Mahalo nui loa!
